Mohawk's Cleaning Recommendations:

Even with regular vacuuming, soil particles and oily dirt will cling to carpet fibers. Foot traffic drives these particles and dirt deep into the carpet. Mohawk recommends professional hot water extractions every 12 to 18 months using cleaning products, equipment or systems that carry the Carpet and Rug Institute Seal of Approval.

Shaw's choice: Hot water extraction

Research indicates that the hot water extraction system provides the best cleaning capability. Although no steam is generated, this system is called "steam cleaning. " The process consists of applying a cleaning agent to the carpet pile and using water in the extractor to recover the solution and soil. This can be done from a truck-mounted unit outside the home, with only the hose and wand brought inside, or by a portable system brought into the home.

Dixie Home Cleaning Requirements:

To retain its luster and beauty, your carpet should be deep-cleaned every 12 to 18 months, depending upon 1) the lifestyle of the household,2) the frequency of vacuuming, and 3) whether the carpet is a light or dark color. You want to deep clean your carpet BEFORE it becomes excessively soiled. Hot water extraction, performed by trained, qualified carpet care professionals, is required every 12-18 months for coverage under these limited warranties. You must provide your receipt for proof of service.
